Learning Matters Speech Pathology is a professional paediatric speech pathology service located in Macksville on the Mid North Coast of NSW. Our therapists are fully qualified speech pathologists with extensive experience helping children with communication, learning and feeding difficulties. Our clinic is set-up to create a safe, supportive and friendly environment for children and families.

We focus on supporting children early, between the ages of 0-12 years, to help them achieve the best outcomes.

Bio

Sonia is a certified practising speech pathologist and the director of Learning Matters Speech Pathology. She has lived in the Nambucca Valley for 20 years and has 25 years of clinical experience in Australia.

Sonia has acquired a vast range of expertise from her previous work in adult and paediatric healthcare and educational settings throughout Queensland and New South Whales. Sonia worked in many major hospitals and healthcare centres in QLD including the Gold Coast Hospital and The Royal Brisbane and Womens Hospital, before moving to the Nambucca Valley in 2005.

Sonia has a professional interest in helping children who experience difficulties with communication and learning. She has a close relationship with several local primary schools where she visits students and works closely with the teaching staff to support student learning.

Sonia has completed additional training in voice, paediatric feeding, literacy intervention and social communication. She has a calm, gentle demeanor and easily develops a strong rapport with students and their caregivers.

Sonia is highly motivated and energetic. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her family, raising animals and growing fresh produce on the family farm, and engaging in a range of outdoor sports including hiking, surfing and cycling.
